GM India Plans To Launch The Cadillac In India

American multinational company GM plans to launch the Cadillac in India soon. Even though GM is right now quite upbeat, as their Chevrolet cars - Spark, Cruze and Beat performed well in India, they plan to enter into the upper crest of luxury car market.

If it gets launched, Cadillac cars will be priced minimum 60-70m lakh rupees.

Talking about this, Karl Slym, GM India’s president said, “Our Chevrolet brand is doing extremely well as every 8 seconds somebody buys our cars. This is a good indicator and India is a growing market with the demand for luxury cars growing…we are looking at introducing our premium brand Cadillac over the next couple of years.”

Pointing out it will not be a hard work for them as Cadillac cars enjoy good brand reputation over here.In the American car market, Cadillac is selling various sedans like CTS-V coupe, CTS Sports, CTS Sports Wagon, CTS-V, CTS-V Wagon, CTS Coupe, STS, DTS and number ofsports utility vehicles (SUV) like Escalade Hybrid, Escalade ESV, Escalade and Escalade EXT.

But in India they will march-in with entry-level cars like CTS Sports and CTS-V sedan. CTS-V sedan will run on V8, 6,162 cc, petrol engine that will produce about 564 hp of maximum power and 747 Nm of maximum torque.

The CTS-V is similar to BMW 5 series in performance, i.e. like M5 & Jaguar XFR cars. If it gets launched in India, Cadillac will have to compete against Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Audi and BMW in the costly top luxury car section.
